Chapter Seven

The day before Thanksgiving

“Amber, when are you going to let Donald come back home?” Jazzy asked as they walked through the grocery store.

“Believe it or not, you guys, Donald is enjoying himself.”

“Is Angel coming up?” April asked.

“Yeah, she’ll be here tonight.”

“Do we have everything we need?” Jazzy asked.

“Yes, we do.”

Standing in line, Amber felt someone watching her. She looked to her left then her right, but she didn’t see anyone. Thinking that she was being paranoid, Amber didn’t say anything to her friends. They loaded up the car and left, not paying any attention to the car that followed them. Once they got to Amber’s house, Donald and the guys took the groceries out of the car and they all went in the house. The kids were playing in the playroom and the men were watching a game.

“Amber, did you leave the garage door open?” Donald asked.

“No, I didn’t use it today.”

“It was open when I got here.”

“Monday, I will call somebody out to look at it.” Amber responded.

“I looked at it already, and it isn’t broke. It looks like someone opened it from the inside and forgot to close it.” Donald said with a look of concern on his face.

“I’ll ask the kids”

“I just want to make sure that you all are ok,” he told her.

“Donald, we are all right.”

“I ordered pizza, so you do not have to cook.” Donald said. He was still concerned about the garage door, but decided to let it go for the moment.

“Thanks Bae.”

“You know I got your back.” Donald said as he squeezed her behind.

“Daddy, why are you touching Mommy on her behind?” Angel asked, laughing as she walked in the kitchen.

“Because I love her.” Donald tickled his daughter.

“Daddy, put me down. I’m going to get sick.” Angel shrieked between fits of laughter.

Donald put his daughter down and said, “Go get your sister.”

“Yes sir?” Sky came in the kitchen. “Donald, you asked for me?”

“Yes, would you like to tell your mom about your day at school?”

“Oh yes, Mommy. I got the lead in the school play. I’m going to play Mary, baby Jesus’ mommy.” Sky excitedly told her mom.

Amber gave her daughter a hug and told her how proud she was of her. Soon, the pizza was there, and they all ate and prepped the food for the next day.

“Are you staying the night?” Amber asked Donald after everyone left.

“Do you want me to stay over?”

“Yeah, since you got to get up so early to come over here and put the turkeys on.” Amber whispered.

“You want me to spend the night because I got to put the turkeys in the oven, or you want me to put my turkey in your oven?” he asked laughing.

Smiling at him, Amber said, “Say what you want, it’s up to you.”

Donald pulled her into his arms as she tried to walk past. “If you want me, just say it. You don’t have to play games, we are married.”

“Donald, I want you to let me go.”

“Say please.”

Laughing, Amber said, “I’m not going to beg you to let me go.
